Herbert Smith has made up 18 to the firm’s partnership in its annual promotions round, including 11 based in the City.
The remaining seven are spread across the firm’s international offices, with female lawyers making up one third of the promotions.
Practice-wise, the firm’s London office sees five new partners in dispute resolution, with four in corporate and one each in financial services regulation and EU/competition.
The UK top 10 firm’s Paris office receives three new partners with two in dispute resolution and one in energy infrastructure, while the new partners in the firm’s Tokyo, Shanghai, Singapore and Abu Dhabi come in dispute resolution and corporate.
The total number of promotions is an increase on 2009, when 13 were made up to the partnership.
Senior partner David Gold said: “Together with the strong sector expertise and international experience that will support our strategic progress, the new partners bring to that distinctive spread of contentious and transactional capability for which we are well known.
“We have enjoyed a good start to 2010, as demonstrated by our ranking in the first-quarter M&A league tables and the string of partners we have recruited over the last few months. This latest intake of talent into the partnership will help maintain our momentum and provides further grounds for our confidence in the future.”
The promotions are effective from 1 May and take the total partnership at the firm to 272.
