Addleshaw Goddard is set to see the departure of two senior litigators as Simon Twigden and Pietro Marino leave the firm to set up their own litigation boutique.

Litigation partner Marino and Twigden ( pictured ), the national firm’s practice head, both handed in their notice last week. It is unclear if the duo, who will now serve a 12-month notice period, will take any other Addleshaws staff with them.

The new boutique, which has yet to be named, is likely to carry out litigation work for claimants.

Twigden recently lost out to fellow litigation partner Monica Burch in a contested vote to elect the firm’s new chairman – a role which has replaced the position of senior partner after former incumbent Paul Lee stepped down after 12 years at the firm’s helm.

Litigation partner Richard Leedham, the head of the firm’s insurance and reinsurance practice, has been appointed to replace Twigden as litigation chief. Leedham joined the firm in 2000 from Paisner & Co.

A firm spokesperson commented: “Simon and Pietro intend to pursue another opportunity outside the firm which they feel will be better suited to their professional aspirations. They are valued partners and we will be sad to see them go. In the meantime they remain fully committed to our business and our clients.

“Looking forward, litigation is and will remain a key pillar of the firm. There is a strong platform for greater success and Richard has the skills and experience to lead the team through the next stages of its growth.”
