Holidaymakers warned over water quality as dirtiest beaches are named

Lyme Regis is known as the pearl of the Jurassic Coast and was immortalised in the film adaptation of John Fowles’s The French Lieutenant’s Woman. Yet its Church beach is one of the dirtiest in the country and the sister beach, the Cobb, is not much better. This popular Dorset resort is one of a number named today for poor water quality by the Marine Conservation Society’s (MSC) Good Beach Guide 2010 .
